Motion and Vision Convergence
Many motion based applications have a vision component to them as well as the electronic controllers and the mechanical components. These three elements of an application represent the bulk of the engineering in any machine design. This webinar will discuss the challenges each element brings. Typical applications of these combined elements will be represented. It is the aim of the webinar to demonstrate three distinct applications where these elements converge on simple and complicated machinery.
This webinar will cover:
• Motion, Inspection, & Rejection
Inspecting bottle caps, bottle fill levels, and bottle labels is a common vision and simple motion application. Commonly bottlers will switch products or a bottle size which then requires some level of machine change over. See a simple, cost saving, solution to automating the vision inspection changeover.
• Inspection in Motion
Lab Automation frequently requires very precise measurements of processes over a long period of time. See how a typical application uses motion electronics, the critical needs of the mechanical components, and how vision becomes a critical element of this. Also see how this same concept can translate into a larger scale, not so clean, industrial setting.
• Inspect Orient and Move
Most people are familiar with Pick N Place packaging applications that use cameras and robots. However, many may not be as familiar with using linear guides and a vision system for automated storage and retrieval of products from DVD’s at the grocery store, to medicine bottles in pharmaceutical applications, to automated warehousing systems. In this section, the electrical and mechanical elements of how this is accomplished will be covered.

OnDemand Webinar: Retire Your Legacy Applications & Reduce Costs
“On average 10% of applications in an unoptimized portfolio are candidates for retirement. An additional one-third can require migration or rationalization”. - Jim Duggan, Gartner analyst (Plan Legacy Application Retirements carefully, April 2009)
Application Retirement is part of Application Portfolio Management that must be undertaken on a continuing basis since applications often outlive their usefulness. However, one may need to retain and manage legacy data from such applications which are candidates for retirement.
During this webinar, you will learn how Solix EDMS Application Retirement along with Solix Application Retirement Managed Services can help organizations
* Target which applications to retire
* Decide which data to keep, for how long and for what purpose (compliance, litigation support, records management or business operations)
* Determine the access requirements
* Determine the optimal secure platform to retain such legacy data; and finally
* Calculate the benefits of retirement
Application Retirement is essentially about reducing costs: of hardware/software AMC, and people trained on legacy systems.
OnDemand Webinar: Building the Business Case for Database Archiving
This Presentation covers the three essential ingredients of any business case for implementing database archiving functionality for an existing database application
* Cost reduction
* Productivity improvements
* Risk reduction
This Webcast shows how to compute the value for operational applications, for retired applications, and for using database archiving as part of an application renovation project. It also includes a list of participants who should be working together as a team to determine the worth of such projects.
During this webinar, you will learn how database archiving, when applied properly to an appropriate application can return huge value and reach ROI in a very short time.
OnDemand Webinar: A look into industry's first Application Retirement Appliance
“Application Retirement is emerging as a structured approach in application portfolio management. The costs associated with managing legacy applications can be significant – organizations must maintain expensive application operating environments simply because they need to retain application data. Extracting data from legacy applications in a simple and straightforward way while ensuring access to this data over time allows organizations to reduce costs and ensure compliance.” - Sheila Childs, Gartner’s Research Director of Storage Technologies and Strategies
Solix ExAPPS Industry's first Application Retirement appliance - is pre-built, pre-configured, pre-tested with all necessary software and hardware components - introduces simplicity to a complex problem. Customers with finite number of specific packaged and custom applications on distributed systems will find the appliance most appealing as it will allow automated repeatable process for multiple applications
During this webinar, you will learn how Solix ExAPPS - Industry's first Application Retirement Appliance - will help organizations to get a jump start on Application Retirement projects
