Business and Operational Risks in Clinical and Safety: Applying Appropriate Technology and Approaches to Mitigate Risk

Adrian Hampshire, managing director, EMEA, BioPharm Systems
Paul Dobrowolskyj, senior consultant, Oracle Health Sciences
What: Webinar: "Business and Operational Risks in Clinical and Safety: Applying Appropriate Technology and Approaches to Mitigate Risk"
All business processes are subject to some level of risk. Key to the long term viability of any company is the critical need to identify the risks, quantify them, minimize them, and have a clear plan for dealing with any residual risks.
Organizations try to mitigate risks by implementing systems that support the company's business processes. Commercial software systems that are available from vendors such as Oracle include many capabilities which, if implemented properly, greatly reduce the risks in the business process.
The implementation of complex systems is, in itself, a risky process. Organizations like BioPharm Systems have been able to use their wide range of experience to develop pre-configured and pre-validated solutions that help reduce the risks during the implementation of a clinical trial management system (CTMS) and a safety system.
This one and a half-hour webinar will provide an overview of business risks related to clinical and safety systems and will illustrate how the risks inherent in implementing complex CTMS and safety systems can be significantly reduced.

Healthcare Insurance and the Roadmap to 2014
Program Content and Objectives
As central players in U.S. healthcare reform, insurers find themselves in the midst of a radical transformation. Profound changes mandated by recent legislation will require corresponding changes in fundamental business practices in a compressed timeframe. Insurers must prepare simultaneously for developments that include the essential benefits package, medical loss ratio requirements, and insurance exchanges. These new provisions, and many others, must be implemented between 2010 and 2014. This presents numerous operational implications and strategic opportunities for insurers as they respond to these game-changing new regulatory requirements.
Sustained growth in this uncertain environment requires systematic planning, a clear vision for the future, a strategy for reaching it, and an implementation process to make it happen. In the scramble to comply with new regulations, many healthcare insurance companies are challenged to bring to bear the objectivity, time, and capabilities they need to make the decisions that will guide their future.
This webinar will provide guidance on how insurers should prepare for radical change to their business model. Key topics will include:
* Strategic implications of the essential health benefits package, MLR requirements, and insurance exchanges
* What it means to be an industry in transition and how to manage change in an uncertain environment
* How to harness economic and clinical value (ECV) as a source of sustainable competitive differentiation
The session will provide you with the latest insights on strategies for success, and a concise approach for evaluating your current efforts. Wherever you are on the implementation curve, this session will leave you clearer about what you’ve got in place, and what you might need to prepare for 2014.
The one-hour session will include a 35-40 minute discussion and review of critical issues, and 20-25 minutes for Q&A.
