This presentation will provide a focus on:

1) Renewable/alternative energy options (solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas and waste-to-energy), giving an overview and examples of each

2) Federal incentives in place to help cities realize renewable/alternative options (with some examples of state incentives)

3) Three major areas to consider when reviewing options, providing an explanation of each:

Technical issues
Financial feasibility
Environmental and community benefit
Nelson Oliva, City Manager, City of Hercules, will additionally provide a case study of a renewable/alternative project recently completed that will include the dos and don’ts plus the overall benefits and drawbacks from their experience.
