Attachment Strategies for Infants and Failure to Thrive
Start: 08/10/2012 10:00 am

Join us as we discuss the characteristics and experiences of infants who fail to thrive and learn a set of educational strategies that support children and

teens with attachment disorders resulting from Failure To Thrive.

Full Description:
Failure to Thrive (FTT) is the failure of infants to grow in weight. FTT results from illness, acute feeding problems, disturbed parent-child interactions,

and insecure and disorganized attachment. An infant's weight, head, and psychosocial milestones are delayed significantly. Mothers of children who fail to

thrive tend to have depression, anger, impaired coping, and the inability to provide warmth to their child. They are often needy, live in poverty, and are

unemployed. There are high levels of: suicide attempts, addiction, isolation, and personality disorders, and there are strong positive correlations between

child abuse and child neglect patterns. FTT is not a diagnosis—rather it is a symptom cluster with degrees of developmental delay and malnutrition.
